Environmental policy

Environmental Policy of Nargus Ltd is based on the understanding that the work of the enterprise should not cause adverse environmental changes and negatively affect the health of the staff and the population living nearby.

Environmental policy is guided by the following principles:

To ensure compliance with government regulations in the field of environmental protection;
To use production equipment, technologies and materials providing environmental safety in accordance with best international standards;
To give priority to actions aimed at preventing impacts on the environment, personnel and population;
To assess environmental safety on the basis of modern concepts of risk analysis and environmental damage;
To be constantly ready to prevent accidents or other emergencies in the field of ecology;
To be open and accessible to environmental information, to interact with the public in a constructive and meaningful way.

The main areas of environmental policy are:

To provide effective operation and continuous improvement of environmental management in accordance with ISO 14001 requirements;
To introduce technologies and equipment which will enhance employees’ labor safety and ensure their health preservation;
To analyze hazards and environmental damage for making prediction and exercising control of ecological safety;
To allocate resources such as personnel, funds, technology, equipment and working time to ensure environmental safety and protection;
To provide training in safety culture, health preservation and environment friendliness to the personnel;
To share trustworthy information regarding production nature, its impact on the environment, health of the personnel and that of the public.

To achieve environmental policy objectives, comprehensive environmental action plans are annually developed and appropriate resources provided. For example, it was planned and allocated 322,000 UAH for the purchase and installation of a treatment plant to purify air emitted to the atmosphere, which allows reducing emission concentration by 70 per cent. Currently this plant is put on trial performance; it is up and running efficiently.

Environmental Monitoring

In order to control and regulate impact on the environment, the company was issued appropriate permits.
State supervision over the company's compliance with environmental law is carried out by State Environmental Protection Administration in Kharkiv region, State Ecological Inspection Board, and Sanitary and Epidemiological Agencies of regional, municipal and district calibers.

In accordance with the schedule agreed with Regional Sanitary and Epidemiological Agency, laboratory monitoring of ambient air is being carried out in the buffer zone at designated points. Monitoring is conducted by laboratories certified by State Standard Agencies and Health Ministry of Ukraine. During the whole monitoring period there has never been a single case of exceeding permissible emission level of the relevant production components.

Laboratory control is also established over the following:

Sources of emissions;
Air of working area, namely the air breathed in by working staff;
Car exhaust fumes.

All raw materials used for products manufacture have corresponding Safety and Health Certificates verifying their suitability for use.
Manufactured goods are subject to health and disease control in Sanitary and Epidemiological Agency laboratory with corresponding conclusions issuance.
All personnel of the enterprise are given preventive medical examinations at intervals established by national regulations.
